A:   Well, all right.

8.

We went to Luigi’s Italian restaurant last night. It was the first time I’d been there. It took us a long time to find it because it’s not a very easy place to get to, actually. The restaurant was okay, I guess. It’s small and they really need some new furniture to make the place look nicer, though. The menu was great. It had lots of choices and most of the dishes were pretty cheap. I had a terrific pizza. Everything was so cheap – only $3 for a small pizza. Unfortunately, the service was very slow. I think they need to hire more staff. Our dinner took a really long time to come, so we didn’t leave a very good tip. When we left.

2.

I tried that new Mexican restaurant las weekend. It’s downtown near the post office. What a great location! You can sit inside and watch everyone go by. It has very nice décor and lighting. The menu has some great choices, too. They have the usual Mexican food you find everywhere, and they also have some different dishes that I’ve never tried before. The food was really delicious, but you might need a credit card to eat there. It cost over $100 for the two of us – a lot more than I expected. I’ll probably go there again, though. The server who waited on us was really nice and quick, too, so we thought she deserved a good tip.

3.

I went to a Thai restaurant on Sunday. It’s called Bangkok Restaurant. You have to drive for about half an hour to get there and there’s always a lot of traffic. That’s the only trouble. It’s a really nice place when you get there. Quiet music and lovely flowers everywhere. The menu is good with lots of choices. The food was very spicy, which is the way I like it. Fantastic desserts. It was really cheap, too. The server was very polite and took good care of us so we left a big tip.

There’s a new Chinese restaurant just five minutes from my house. it’s a very simple place. A little boring inside, actually – just a few tables in an empty room. They need to add more dishes to the menu, too. Right now, they serve only four or five things. But they’re all delicious. And very cheap. You can get a good meal there for around $5. All the people who work there were very friendly and helpful, so I left a good tip.

A:   Where did you go for dinner last night?

B:   I went to the Apple Pie Restaurant on Smith Street – by the Post Office.

A:   Oh, I know where that is. What did you have?

B:   I had a small salad and a hamburger.

A:   How was it?

B:   Not great. The salad was really small and the hamburger was cold.

A:   Oh, yuck!

2.

A:   How was your dinner at that new Italian restaurant yesterday?

B:   Oh, it was really nice. I had the shrimp cocktail and the spaghetti. The spaghetti was fantastic. It tasted homemade! It was yummy.

A:   It sounds great. I’ll have to try it.

3.

A:   I went to Chicken King for lunch today.

B:   I thought you didn’t like chicken.

A:   Well, I don’t usually like it, but it’s really good at Chicken King. I had their fried chicken. It wasn’t oily like it is at other fast-food restaurants. The french fries were good, too-really crispy and hot.

B:   Oh. Maybe I’ll have lunch there tomorrow.

4.

A:   I went to the new vegetarian restaurant on South Street about two weeks ago.

B:   Did you like it?

A:   Well, the restaurant is very cozy and the service is great, but the food is so-so.

B:   Oh, that’s too bad. What did you have?

A:   I had the tofu and vegetable stir fry. It was overcooked and tasteless. And the tomato soup I had was too spicy.

B:   Yuck! It sounds awful!

5.

A:   Have you been to that new Korean place yet?

B:   Yes, a friend and I went there last week.

A:   How was it?

B:   I thought it was great. The food was very fresh and they let you cook pieces of meat on a grill right at your table. It was a lot of fun, and really tasty.

Last weekend, I ate at that new Japanese restaurant downtown called Wasabi. It has a great location near the main train station. It is beautiful inside, and the traditional Japanese music is calming. Most of the food was good. The sushi was very fresh and delicious, but the octopus salad did not have much taste. I don’t recommend it. However, the main dish was excellent-Japanese grilled steak and lobster. They cook it right at your table. It’s fun to watch! The dessert of green tea ice cream was the perfect way to end my meal. Overall, it’s a good place, but the prices are very high. It’s too expensive to eat there often, but it’s good for a special occasion.
