Ravi:   Hey, Jed, how about going to the cinema on Sunday?

Jed:   OK. What shall we see? How about that new comedy?

Ravi:   Actually, I want to see the horror film.

Jed:   Oh no, I hate scary films. The sci-fi one sounds good, though.

Ravi:   Good idea. Let’s see that.

Jed:   Is it on at the cinema near the market?

Ravi:   No, that cinema is shut at the moment. It’s also not on at the cinema opposite the station.

Jed:   So, let’s go to the cinema in the shopping centre. How are you getting there?

Ravi:   You can take the train, but there are lots of buses from outside my house.

Jed:   OK. I can walk to your house and get the bus with you. What time shall I meet you?

Ravi:   Let me think. The film starts at 6.15 p.m. It takes about 20 minutes to get there. So come to my house at twenty to six.

Jed:   OK. How much money are you taking? Tickets cost five pounds fifty, right?

Ravi:   No, they’re six pounds fifty but I’ll take ten pounds so I can get a drink and a snack too.

Jed:   Right, see you Sunday, then.

16   You will hear a boy talking to a shop assistant. What is he doing?

A:   Good morning, how can I help you?

B:   Actually, I’m just waiting with my baby sister: my grandfather’s trying on a pair of trousers.

A:   Oh, yes, he’s in the changing room right now. What a pretty sister you have! She looks like you a lot!

B:   Thanks…

17   You will hear a person asking for help. What’s the problem?

A:   Excuse me, where can I buy a ticket? This machine isn’t working and the bus will be here in a minute…

B:   Let me see… you need to select the number of tickets you want to buy first and then put the money in.

A:   Oh, that’s why I couldn’t put the coin in. Thanks for helping me, Madame.

18   You will hear a person asking for directions. What’s the weather like?

A:   Excuse me, I’m afraid I’m lost. Do you know where this sushi restaurant is?

B:   I think it’s the one behind the hospital. But it’s at least five minutes from here and if you walk, you’ll get wet.

A:   Oh, right. I don’t even have an umbrella…

B:   Don’t worry: if you take the underground and get off at the next stop, you’ll be right in front of it.

19   You will hear two friends talking about a trip. Where are they meeting up?

A:   Are you ready for tomorrow’s trip to London?

B:   Sure. I’ve packed the sandwiches and the drinks. Don’t forget the camera. Last time we were already on the coach when you realised you had left it at home…

A:   Don’t worry, Adam. See you tomorrow at the gate. The coach will be there at 7,30.

20   You will hear a person asking for information. When is the next bus?

A:   Excuse me, I need to go to Leeds. Does this bus go there?

B:   I’m afraid not. The one that goes to Leeds left at half past four. The bus runs every hour until 6.30: that’s the last bus of the day.

A:   Well, it’s ten to five. I guess I’ll have a walk by the river while I wait for the next bus, then. Thanks.
