1   What is the number of Maria’s house?

Boy:   Excuse me, do you live on this street?

Maria:   Yes, I do. It’s the fifth house on the right. The white one.

Boy:   Oh yes, I can see. It’s really pretty. It’s opposite ours. Is yours 15 then?

Maria:   Yes, that’s right, it is. And yours is 25?

2   Which is Jason’s house?

Jason:   When you come to my party on Saturday, Sally, you can see our new house.

Sally:   Great. Is it much bigger than your old one?

Jason:   Yes, it is. The living room’s on the first floor and the bedrooms are on the ground floor.

Sally:   Wow. I’d like to live on two floors. Our house has just one floor.

3   What time is Jenny going to leave school today?

Dad:   Hi Jenny. You don’t usually call me at ten past three. Is everything OK?

Jenny:   Yes dad. I’m calling because I finish school at a different time today.

Dad:   It’s usually ten past four on Friday isn’t it?

Jenny:   No, dad, it’s ten past four on Thursday! Please come at ten to four today, that’s 20 minutes earlier than usual.

4   What colour does Ben want to paint his bedroom?

Girl:   Hello, Ben. Are you going to help your dad paint your bedroom?

Ben:   Yes. He prefers red, but I don’t like that colour very much. I like blue.

Girl:   Oh, I don’t like blue. How about green? It’s nice and bright.

Ben:   I’m sorry. I don’t agree! I don’t like green bedrooms.

5   What is Sarah going to do this afternoon?

Tom:   Hi Sarah, can we finish our homework project together this afternoon?

Sarah:   Oh, sorry Tom, I can’t. I’m going to make my mum’s birthday cake after lunch.

Tom:   Well, what about tomorrow then? I’m going to play football in the morning but I can come round after that.

Sarah:   Great! See you then.

1   What was Richard doing when his mum got home?

Richard:   My mum was surprised when she came home yesterday.

Girl:   Why was that, Richard?

Richard:   I was in the kitchen, making some soup. I don’t like cooking, but there was no bread for a sandwich and I was hungry.

Girl:   Wow! Was it difficult?

Richard:   No, not really.

2   What do Charlie and his family use their garage for?

Charlie:   Our house has a garage, but we don’t keep our car in it.

Sally:   What do you use it for, then?

Charlie:   Well, I really want a table tennis table in there but it’s full of boxes of old things. And my brother wants to practise in there with his band.

Sally:   You’ll have to take all the boxes away.

3   What did Rosie’s dad buy yesterday?

Dad:   Rosie – are you at home this afternoon? I bought something yesterday, and the shop is bringing it at two.

Rosie:   I’ll be here. Have you bought a new sofa?

Dad:   We don’t need one! It’s a sink for the new kitchen. We just have to find the right cooker now, then we’ll have everything we need.

4   Who is on the balcony?

Man:   Who’s that talking outside on the balcony?

Woman:   Bethan and her friends. One’s Catherine, but I don’t know the other girl with them.

Man:   I can hear a boy laughing, too.

Woman:   That’s the TV! Hannah’s watching it in the sitting room.

5   What did Emma paint on her ceiling?

Emma:   I finished painting my ceiling last night. It looks great.

Boy:   Oh yes? What did you decide to paint on it? The sun or the stars?

Emma:   Well, you know my ceiling’s light grey? So the stars weren’t right. I decided to do clouds instead.

Boy:   Good idea!

David:   So, Jenny, what are we going to do for Martha’s birthday this Saturday?

Jenny:   We can have a surprise party. We did it last year and it was fun.

David:   Maybe, but why not do something different? It’s boring to do the same thing every year.

Jenny:   I know! Martha likes films. We could go to the cinema.

David:   Yes, but the cinema is expensive.

Jenny:   You’re right. Mmm. Do you like the idea of a picnic in a park?

David:   Yes, I do. That’s a great idea. I think it’s going to be sunny on Saturday and I know Martha loves being outside. Do you think she wants to go to the park in the centre for her birthday?

Jenny:   I’m sure that’s the best place. So, we could buy some food and drink in the supermarket in the morning.

David:   OK. And we can ask everyone to give us some money.

Jenny:   But not Martha because it’s her birthday. We can get bread, cheese, and crisps.

David:   We need to buy drinks as well. Do you think Martha likes orange or lemon?

Jenny:   I’m not sure. What do you think is best?

David:   Mmm, we can get lemon and orange, then everyone is happy.

Jenny:   Excellent idea! So, who shall we invite?

David:   I’ll ask Martha. She can make a list, then I can send a text to her friends to invite them.

Jenny:   Of course. Now we have to think of a present.

David:   That’s more difficult. What ideas have you got?

Jenny:   I saw a fantastic T-shirt in the sports shop. Maybe she’ll like that!

David:   Great. We can go to the shop now.

Antonio:   Hi Anna. Yes I’d love to see it. I’m not busy except for football practice.

Anna:   That’s Thursday, right? So, let’s see the film on Friday.

Antonio:   Great. Text me the time and we can meet there.

2   How much is a family ticket to the zoo today?

Man:   Hello, we’d like to come to the zoo today.

Woman:   Well, you’re very lucky! Our family tickets are usually £28, but this week we have a special offer of £25.

Man:   But we only paid £22 last year.

Woman:   Yes, that’s right. It’s a bit more this year, but we have more animals.

3   What time does the girl’s coach arrive?

Girl:   Dad, can you pick me up from the coach station later?

Dad:   Yes, sure. But I can’t leave work until a quarter past three.

Girl:   That’s fine. I get in at five past three, but I’ve got some shopping to do, so let’s meet at the coach station at half past three.

Dad:   Perfect, see you later.

4   What is the number of Rosa’s house?

Rosa:   Hi Phil. Do you want to come to my house this evening to finish the geography project?

Phil:   That’s a good idea. Are you number 16 or 18 Green Street?

Rosa:   We’re on the other side of the road at 17. My friend lives at 16, and I don’t know the people at 18.

Phil:   Well it’s a good thing I asked! See you later.

5   What did Marco buy for his bedroom?

Marco:   I went shopping today. I wanted to get something for my bedroom.

Girl:   Did you get some new posters?

Marco:   The posters weren’t very interesting, but I saw some great desk lamps. I got a white one.

Girl:   Now all you need is a bookshelf for all your books!
